Nadja
Petrick The night with you
by Silvy Pommerenke
"Nadja
Petrick sounds a litlle like Bob Dylan (with whom she seems to have an
affinity), or like some reincarnation of Janis Joplin.
Favourites: 'Dance with me' sounds marvellously dark and mysterious. 'Blue
Skies' couldn´t be any sadder, a good-bye song for evermore. Last
but not least: 'Hallelujah, I'm in love', a wonderful love-crazed Charleston
swing number.
Continue with: Emmylou Harris and Lucinda Williams
AVIVA-Tipp: Nadja Petrick stands for handmade songwriting, a perfect match
for jeans and cowboy boots. Timeless, with catchy melodies it seems made
for after glow campfire romantic."

"As a singer songwriter Nadja Petrick has made a name for herself.
After contributing a song to the 'Sirens of Berlin' sampler she´s
known to the country music audience as well.
The CD 'The Night With You' she produced all on her own. It focusses directly
on her voice, instrumentaton stands carefully in the back.
Nadja´s telling her own stories, stories about love and life, sometimes
with a touch of blues like on 'Aint Gonny Drink From That Well No
More'. That sounds mighty weird, but it´s meant to do.
Songs like 'Red Roses Are Out Of Fashion' are more related to country
music, just played with accoustic guitar and harmonica (...) Handmade
music to sit down and listen to and let your mind flow, but still with
a certain verve.
Something for those who love the basic singer songwriter style. It´s
all about telling stories."

"It´s her voice which puts a spell on me. Not to mention her
great guitar playing. No song is like the other on this CD which is quite
unusual, but in this case it worked out perfectly. To sum it up: This
CD, no this singer is indescribable. You have to experience the music.
There is no clear dividing line between country music, folk and blues,
so it´s hard for me to pin Nadja Petrick down to just one style.
Let´s call it 'Countryfolkrockblues'."
